You be the judge!

A big thank you to everyone who contributed images for consideration for our club’s entry into the Australian Photographic Society’s Australian Cup photography competition.

To help in the final selection of the 20 entries required, we are trying out another feature of MyPhotoClub which allows YOU to be the judge. All of our MPC members, whether you contributed an image or not, are invited to score all 54 of the submitted entries.

What to do

  • Go to https://qcgroup.myphotoclub.com.au/
  • Select the grey Members button.
  • Select the blue ‘Online scoring’ button next to the ‘APS Australian Cup Preselection’ competition.
  • Read the Online Scoring information. You will be asked to score each image from 1-9.
  • Select ‘APS AUS CUP PRESELECTION’
  • Follow the instructions.
  • (Don’t overthink it – I suggest using 9 for a great image that should be included, 7 for a Maybe and 5 for a Probably Not.)
  • That’s it!
  • Online scoring will be offered until the end of May 16.

Notes

  • This is a completely anonymous process. Of course you may recognise some of the images! But no one will see how you have scored an image.
  • It took me around 15 minutes to score all of the images.

Happy judging!

APS Australian Cup preselection

For a bit of fun, and for the first time, QCG is planning to enter the Australian Photographic Society’s Australian Cup and we are seeking your involvement.

This is an inter-club competition, with each club submitting 20 entries. The competition has an open subject and images can be colour or black and white – so with such broad criteria, we know that all members of the club (any grade) will potentially have an entry!

We would love you to submit up to two of your most amazing images for consideration.  They can be new images or old images. They may be images you have previously entered into QCG competitions, or they may be images we have never seen before.

The only rule is that the images must not have been entered into the APS Australian Cup before. Also, if you are a member of several camera clubs, you may only enter images on behalf of one club.

We are using MyPhotoClub to run the process of selecting our entries.

  • Go to https://qcgroup.myphotoclub.com.au/
  • Select the grey Members button.
  • From the list of open competitions, select ‘APS Australian Cup Preselection’.
  • Submit up to two entries in the usual way. Size limits are the same as our usual club limits. Don’t forget you can easily upload images you have used in club competitions this year, using ‘Select from existing uploaded images’.

We will also trial a feature of MPC called online scoring, to allow all QCG MPC members to anonymously rate the images, to help the selection committee choose the final 20! More information about that later.

Timeline

  • April 20 Entry submission to QCG opens.
  • May 9       Entry submission to QCG closes.
  • May 10     All QCG MPC members are invited to score images online.
  • May 16     Online scoring closes.
  • May 17 -19     Highest scoring images will be considered by a QCG panel and the final 20 chosen.
  • May 20 QCG uploads our 20 images into the APS Australian Cup competition.
  • May 24     APS Australian Cup entries close.

You can check out previous years’ winners at https://apsauscup.myphotoclub.com.au/ via the Catalogues button.

To put our entry together, the club urges all active members to submit their two best images for consideration.  Let’s show Australia how brightly the QCG light shines!

Introducing Everyone at MyPhotoClub

An entry site has been established for all members of all MyPhotoClub clubs to collectively enter a series of friendly competitions to engage with during these challenging times.

The first round is called A Thing at Home – find an inanimate item in your home and see what you can come up with. Two entries per person. Entries close April 19th.

The competitions are themed with two entry slots and run weekly. The judging will be done using online scoring where a score between one and five is given for each entry. Everyone is invited to participate in online scoring.

There is no entry fee or charge for using this.

Each entrant’s privacy is maintained as the club level features of viewing profiles and other images of the entrant are disabled.

You can access the competition at https://everyone.myphotoclub.com.au/. Use the subscribe button to get updates about each competition

Access is also through a link is provided on your Members page and is also accessible from the All Sites icon (top right of page).
